How do I make my own website to sell my oil paintings?

I would like to put my oil paints out where the whole world can see them. How do I make my own website to sell my oil paintings?
To make your own website, you first need to find a company to host your website. A few examples are listed below:

http://smallbusiness.yahoo.com/webhostin鈥?/a>

http://www.dotanything.net

http://www.godaddy.com

All of those require payment, but give excellent service as well as a great amount of space and monthly transfer. There are others that are free, but give less space and fewer services. Examples are listed below:

http://geocities.yahoo.com

http://pagecreator.google.com

If you use Geocities or Pagecreator, they come with easy to use web creation software packages, for free. If you choose one of the other ones that I listed, you will probably need a basic knowledge of HTML, the language that web developers use to create web pages. It is very simple and one or two online tutorials plus a library book should be plenty to get you started. Then, you can either get a free HTML editing program, like PageBreeze, or you can pay a couple hundred dollars for an amazing top-of-the-line HTML editor called Adobe Dreamweaver 8 (available at http://www.adobe.com). Then, all you need to do is create your page, and post it! For more details on how to create and post your page, you may need to consult your website host and your HTML editor (unless you used Geocities or Google PageCreator).

Hope this helps, and good luck with your websites and oil painting!

It depends on how much you want to put into the site.

You can create a fairly static site which hosts just the work and some other information and requires interested parties to contact you for purchase information. Or you can make a completly electronic site where they can browse your ';catalog'; and make purchases on-line.

Of course, the more functionality the site contains, the more you'll have to pay for it.

Have a look at thie site below I created for my father for his art work. It took me about a day or two to create that and I've made some minor updates.

A domain name would cost you about $5/year and a basic hosting service is about $6/month. Of course, hosting costs go up for additional functionality.

If you want more info, send me an email. (No, I'm not selling anything - just offering advice.) Use the webmaster email address at the above site .
